John was raised in a farming community in West Central Minnesota. He was drafted during the Vietnam War and served 2 years stateside in the Army Airborne as a parachute rigger. He married his wife, Sandi, in 1973 after meeting at a vocational school and have raised 4 children (3 living) and are blessed with 7 grandkids.
After several years of marriage and following the birth of their first child, John read a book on end times. Fearful of the end times and of hell itself, he began seriously reading the Bible. He became convinced that the Bible teaches that Jesus has already paid for all sin on the cross and will forgive all who trust in Him.
In the fall of 1977, John and Sandi started Bible School and Missionary Training with New Tribes Mission (now Ethnos360). They served at the Missionary Training Center in Camdenton, MO for 34 years before retiring to Sanford, Florida in 2019.
John finds joy in reading, sharing, and discussing the Word of God and in volunteering on the grounds crew at the Ethnos360 Retirement Homes. He and Sandi recognize that God has provided for and guided them faithfully through their many years of service in various ministries.
